Dawinder (Dave) S. Sidhu is an attorney, public servant, and academic. He joined Hopwood & Singhal in 2020 and also provides pro bono assistance to the Office of the Maryland Attorney General. He previously served as Supreme Court Fellow at the U.S. Sentencing Commission, Special Assistant to the Chair of the Commission, staff attorney in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, and law clerk to U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell. In addition, Dave has held teaching appointments at the Georgetown University Law Center, University of Baltimore School of Law, University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, and University of New Mexico School of Law, where he became the first Sikh to receive tenure at a U.S. law school. He now teaches law-related undergraduate courses at the University of Maryland.
He is an elected term member in the Council on Foreign Relations, sits on the Gucci Changemakers Council, volunteers with his local fire department, and founded an outpatient addiction facility in his hometown.
Born and raised in Maryland, Dave earned degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins University, and George Washington University, as well as certificates from the U.S. Army War College and Northwestern University.
